Corporate Social Responsibility and Community

Through our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, we actively support local charities and encourage colleagues to get involved in fundraising activities. This includes events such as Christmas Jumper Day and organised walks or runs, which help bring people together while raising awareness and funds for good causes.

Our commitment also extends to supporting charities within our industry. For example, in 2024 we hosted a charity 5-a-side football tournament to raise money and awareness for Unseen – a UK charity devoted to eradicating modern slavery, including within the Construction Industry.

Supporting Local Charities

Our corporate charity is the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice, located near our head office in Godalming. Our team actively participates in charity events such as the hospice’s annual Sunrise Walk in Guildford. Other fundraising activities include our annual Christmas raffle, hosting a charity donation tower and selling handmade items.

Social Value

We have strong engagement with our local community through a wide range of initiatives designed to support education and career development. We actively participate in college recruitment fairs and deliver STEM talks to students interested in engineering careers.

Beyond this, we work closely with schools and colleges to provide interview skills days, careers fairs and careers talks, helping students prepare for the world of work. We also offer immersive experiences and work experience placements for students in Years 9 to 13, giving them valuable insight into the industry and inspiring future talent.

We are committed to embedding social value into every stage of our project delivery. We actively seek opportunities to support local communities by integrating local suppliers and small businesses into our supply chains, thereby boosting regional economies. Where appropriate, we create pathways into employment through apprenticeships and targeted recruitment initiatives for underrepresented groups.

These efforts not only foster inclusive growth but also help build a more resilient and skilled local workforce. Additionally, we align our project planning with existing local infrastructure – such as public transport networks – to ensure accessibility and reduce environmental impact. By taking a holistic approach to social value, we aim to leave a lasting, positive legacy in the communities where we operate.
