Scitech-EKIUM featured in Business Focus magazine
9 July 2026
Scitech-EKIUM is delighted to feature in the latest edition of Business Focus magazine (pages 114 – 119). The article, titled “Broader Horizons”, sees Managing Director Dave Grant reflect on our first months as part of the Ekium Group and the opportunities now opening up for the business.
A natural fit
Since Scitech’s integration into the Ekium Group in late 2025, the two organisations have come together with remarkable ease. As Dave explains in the piece, collaborative projects dating back to 2023 meant the relationship was already well established, with technical expertise flowing in both directions long before joining Ekium Group.
“Rather than it being a culture shock with two alternate currents colliding, we were more like two parallel streams coming together into a single, smooth flow.”
The article explores what that means in practice: greater scale, access to a wider pool of expertise across 16 countries and the resources to pursue international opportunities that would have been difficult to reach independently. With the Group employing around 2,700 people and life sciences accounting for more than a quarter of its revenues, the alignment is both strategic and cultural.
Delivering complex environments
Project delivery remains the foundation of the business, and the feature highlights some of our most significant recent work:
- The High Resolution Neutron Powder Diffraction (HRPD-X) facility for UK Research and Innovation at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, where the steel frame is now in place
- The Centre for Veterinary Vaccine Innovation and Manufacturing (CVIM) at The Pirbright Institute, Surrey, due for handover in summer 2026
- The detailed design for the new freezer farm facility at The Francis Crick Institute, London
The article also revisits our award-winning expansion of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Advanced Therapy Manufacturing Facility for Cell and Gene Therapies, which won Best Cleanroom Design at the 2026 Cleanroom Technology Awards. Transforming former consulting rooms on the fifteenth floor of a live hospital into advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing cleanrooms was, in Dave’s words, a project with “almost every difficulty you could imagine” – and one our team delivered in full.
Looking ahead
While life sciences remains firmly at the heart of Scitech-EKIUM, the feature closes with a look at where we are heading next. EKIUM’s wider capabilities are opening opportunities across nuclear and alternative energy, industrial biotech and processes and automation, allowing us to apply our core strengths more broadly than ever before.
